Story by Joel Daud

At least three people were shot dead during the current demonstrations which occurred last month in Sudan. More than 100 people were wounded when several people walked out in the streets for demonstrations forcing political change in their country. Different media reported that the dead body had been found with bullet wounds in their head, chest, or stomach.

The demonstrations rocked many cities across Sudan, including in the Eastern states of Gedaref and Kassala, as well as in North Kordofan and White Nile.

According to the International media, Aljazeera reports in Sudan, many protests in the capitals city Khartoum and the capital’s twin city of Omdurman thinned out. Likewise, on Sunday morning, many protesters were back on the streets, again using rocks and tires to block roads. Security forces set up random checkpoints on the streets, frisking passers-by and randomly searching cars.

Sudan likes other many African Countries faced with military coups crisis for many years. However, there are several pieces of information that show this case, for instance, the report of African Development Bank Published in September 2012 portrayed that Since the years of independence, Africa has experienced more than 200 military coups, counting both successful and failed coup attempts. The political and economic conditions prevailing in different African countries and the foreign influences at work during different periods (post-independence, Cold War, and post-Cold War eras) have all played a part in fueling conflicts and coups in the region.

The history talks to issues of Sudan military coups

In the early after Sudan independence in 1956, the countries don witness plenty of military coups some of those coups were successful and others failed. In the structure of this logical sequences coups which reported in Sudan since Independence in the middle of 1956s. The breakout of coups in Sudan looks like a continuity that lead the strong democracy to undergrow due to the unnecessary military coups that occurred in Sudan and other African Countries.

According to BBC world news Report since 1957 one year after independence, one group of armies was Ismail Kebedh lead carry out a coup against di first democratic national government. Prime Minister Ismail al-Azhari scat di attempted coup.

Likewise, in 1976 Brigadier-General Muhammad Nour Saad bin attempt one coup against the Nimeiri regime but failed. 1985 Di army announce the end of di rule of Sudanese Nimeiri after comprehensive civil disobedience and protest’s sake of increase in prices of products.

Not only that in April 2019 coups were reported again after the long side of peace Demonstrations happened, but Sudanese protests against the Al-Bashir government also facilitated with increased the life price, bad economic situation to the civilians after 30 years which brought, He to power in 1988.

Although there are so many opinions about when Sudan’s lives well since the April 2019 coups and then August theme year transition government started when Prime minister Abdalla Hamdok took office he still faces apolitical crisis to unite the national military after the civilian or oppositions side of the government.

The coups in other African countries

Mali like other African countries in March 2012, after enjoying twenty years of constitutional democracy, the small Tepid group of military insurgents is symptomatic of the reemerging pattern of coups détat which have hit Africa in recent years. Mali briefly fell under the control of a group of middle-ranking soldiers. But the country at the time was tragically divided between the Tuareg and Islamist rebel groups taking control of the North, and the joint junta-new civilian government who were struggling to protect and unify their country.

Although is never an easy task to break this coup some Region Institutions spend time for solutions between two sides either military general leaders and their top civilian leaders or these community using their power Authority to suspend membership for un constitution take over. on April 6, 2012, the junta agreed with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) negotiators to step down in exchange for an end to sanctions, and handed back power to the transitional government led by Dioncounda Traoré.

According to the African Development Bank report published in 2012 The number and type of military coups in Africa countries from 1960 to 2012. In 1960 Successful military coup was held in Zaire now Congo DRC while one failed attempt in Ethiopia, 1961, one failed in Somalia until 1964 for other military attempts occurred in Ghana, the United Republic of Tanzania, Gabon, and Zaire now Congo DRC.

Either the Report shows in 2010 coup held in Niger and other two coups failed attempt in Guinea Bissau and Madagascar,2011 Congo DRC and Niger also Guinea Bissau while the next year 2012 the two coups were reported again in Guinea Bissau and then Mali onto this year no military coups or failed attempt reported.

How military coups effects in and outside Sudan

“Economic and political growing together that why unnecessary military coup leads to unsustainable development to the people and nation in general.” Elias Johnathan, a political and economic analyst from Kagera in Tanzania told Buha Radio,

Mr. Jonathan continued to realize that the economic and sustainable development came together with the strong political system in a certain country, why because people want peace and good security for example Tanzania in east Africa. So, the current military coups in our African countries will lead to being poor.
